No fuel pressure
I changed my fuel pump over today. The old one was absolutely covered in crap. the "bucket" at the bottom had at least 2cm of crud and muck in it. Don't know if this is normal?
But anyway, I changed the fuel pump over, just to be sure, as I'm having dramas getting the car to run decently on petrol. When I saw the crud I was hoping this was my problem.
However, now the car wont start at all on the new fuel pump?
There is a valve on the fuel rail, which when I pushed the first time I got a hiss of air, then a dribble of fuel.
second time I push it, I just get the dribble of fuel.
Its a LRA cut down tank, about 30 litres, sits just behind the RR wheel. and its a bugger to get in and out.
I don't want to have to pull the tank out again, so any suggestions? My battery keeps getting flat too, so I am continually taking it out and charging it, could this be causing issues with an imobilisor or something?

G`day ,
when you turn the key to on , when the idiot lights and abs pumps ETC starts so will the fuel pump , it will run for 2 or 3 sec but because the ecu doesn`t get a rev signal as in engine cranking or started the pump is shut off .
If you turn the ignition to on and listen for the pump to run and stop then turn the ignition off and then on again and do this a few times you should get a spray of fuel from the point you`ve found .
If you don`t you`ll need to investigate why not .
In answer to your question in the lpg section , the way the pump is wired with lpg is for the pump to run continuously no matter which fuel is in use , the way yours is acting is the way it`s done .

Yeah, I tried to turn the key a few times, and check the fuel rail, still no pressure.
I seem to remember a black pipe with a green coloured "filter" type thing on it when I pulled the tank out. I thought this was part of the EAS system, however it now looks like its part of the emission control stuff, and should go on the top of the fuel tank.
Could this cause the problem by not being connected?

twisted fuel line..............looks like when I put the fuel tank back in, the fuel line got twisted.
Started first go!! and runs awesome!! Cant believe how much gunk was in the fuel pump. i'll try and take a pick of it.
