I get my minions to shave me, so no mirror required!!

Anyways, I replaced the solenoid, replaced one of the darlington drivers, and I got the mirrors to work going down.......but not up! all the relays are working now though, and then after a little while of flicking switches.......they all work!! weird. really weird.

so, I put it all back together, put the seat back in.......and now they only work up and down, not left and right. I can hear the relays all clicking, all sound like their working. I am holding fingers crossed that it may just be low battery power.......

Have also found a guy in Pakenham who repairs the Mercedes seat switches, same as the RR ones, so sending my switch to him, see if he can get it almost perfect. will let you know how that goes.

Bit of a high jack but do the standard seat bases fit to the leather seats...say 1986 seat bases into a 1991 SE ?

my drivers side has a buggered ECU i am guessing

Seat bases changed sometime between 1985 and 1988. Drivers seat base is the same, passengers seat base is lower on the later vehicles and further in from the passengers door.

I have 1988 leather seats in my 1985 RRC. I had to get the leather seat covers swapped from the front passengers seat onto a 1985 seat base to make it fit properly.

well...........not a low battery. charged it overnight, and still same thing. Mirrors work up and down, not left and right. All the relays that are supposed to work (from what I can gather from looking at it for so long!). The seat front tilt up and down works, but nothing else. again, all the relays are working.

Back to the drawing board I guess, check all the fuses and wiring.........found a wreckers that sell the ecu for 600 though.......waiting to see if they guarantee it now.

i don't think it is the ecu if it worked before putting it all back together. You need to get access to the mirror motor. Measure the voltage on the motor when you try to move them. Remember the mirrors are exposed to everything, water, wind, spiders. They probably just need a good clean. My electric windows were a bit the same with needing to flick the switches a bit but now they are used more often they work well now.

    WOO HOO!

One 30Amp fuse later and im in business!!!! all working. Mirrors, seat, the whole shebang! Must have tripped the fuse when I am putting it back together.

What a relief. This has been such a pain in the (backwards from the perineum).

Want to thank everyone for the help and advice. Its greatly appreciated.

    Congratulations.

With LR, always use 'GAP theory' for the electrics/wiring.

The lack of a gap where there should be a gap... or a gap in the circuit where there should'nt be a gap.

Covers 99% of LUCAS and LR - inspired wiring/connectors/switches/components/earthing points...

Lucky to even have a fuse in a RRC.
