Hi i have a 1991 range rover, i drove it daily and it never missed a beat then 1 day would not start. We have replaced the dizzy and coil and it still wont start, from what we can see its not getting spark to the dizzy. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be and how to fix it? This is our first range rover so we arent very familiar with them.
thanks in advance 😕
Welcome to the forum Brookey.
As mentioned, it does indeed sound like you ignition amplifier is on the fritz. Replacement with the BIM024 Bosch module is the best way to go. Before diving in to that though, check you have power getting to the ignition module and that the wiring from the distributor is connected properly - a corroded or dogey connection there can cause the same symptoms.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
As per the link kindly provided by Rick1970 below, do the basic tests with a multi meter to make sure there's voltage present at the coil, the distributor pickup is OK and also try a different rotor button. I replaced another burnt through rotor button for someone last week.
Thankyou for your help! The dizzy came with a new ignition module so we have replaced that when we replaced the dizzy. So i will check the wiring and go from there.. thanks again.
Thanks again everyone, we have replaced some wires and now my beast is back on the road! Really appreciate all your help![]()
