    Delayed starting

    Hi All.
For some time my LSE Soft dash Rangie has developed from time to time a delay in starting.
Turn the key and nothing ,nothing, nothing, and than the starter engages and off it goes.
I've replaced the usual parts and still it does it,
I suspect it may be something in the alarm system, but what.
Has any one had simular problems and if so, what the remedy
    Richard

    G`day .

Check the clamping/ contact of single thin wire that goes to the solenoid.

Ours did it occasionally and that was it , everything else was working as it should though . Can reach down ontop of the starter to find it .

    Thanks Guys.
I will replace the ignition switch and clean the contact wire on the solenoid today.
But I think the problem is a little more sinister.
I've had the problem since I've had the car, some 12 years or more. It did it with the old V8 in it and still does it with the Tdi in it..
I use to loosen the positive terminal on the main battery, and twist it around to fix it, but have now replaced the main cable from the battery to the starter, still does it.
When the batteries are fully charged its not so often ,but as the car is not a daily drive and sits around a lot, the batteries go off the fully charge, and the problem comes up again.
    Richard.

Change the main and earth cables and solder on the new connections. It could be resistance in your earth lead .... just wiggle the earth wire next time without remove the terminals and see if it then starts. The wires may look to be in perfect shape, but there is a lot of resistance in the crimp on terminal/battery terminal connection

If it doesn't fix it ... at a minimum you rule them out! Well that's the theory I work on either way
