6360 isn't too shabbyconsidering I used to rip the old 116.962 in the SLC to 8krpm regularly
rpm cutout on the 560SL and the AMG is 6500, which really limits the fun.... kinda. I reckon I belt the 3.9 to at least 6K pretty regularly.
Part of the secret is making sure you're sympathetic to the cause. I've never had an engine failure from high rpm.
I reckon you have about another 4-500 in it... depending on the flywheel mass.....
I must say though, this has been a great example to others and the thread is a really interesting account of a thoroughly comprehensive project.
Not only that but you undertook an interstate move while it was all going on. That's no mean feat... (as I know from experience)
Believe it or not, the completion of the '77 happens to coincide with a relocation decision 'back home' - 2700km north... That's move #7 in 20 years for me (and will be the last).
As they say, planning is everything and moving 5 Mercedes, the RRC, a boat as well as a house full of furniture and a workshop full of tools and parts, plus a storage facility with more restored parts is going to be a testing exercise.
God help me... First removalist comes to quote tomorrow lunchtime...
Congratulations to you for an incredibly successful, well executed outcome.
