    Rear windows not working

    Hi Guys,

I've knocked something off somewhere ..... Any ideas ? Both rears have stopped working, but I have had the car in bits over the last 6months. I pulled the little relay unit out from beneath the cubby hole in the center console. It seems to work. There is 5 relays in it, four of them wind the front windows up/down ... IS the fifth one that powers the rear window ? ... maybe ? The must be relays somewhere for the rear windows ..

    seeya,
    Shane L.

    Shane,

There's a write-up on discoweb regarding cold solder joints in the window lift ecu, and there is also another repair process on atlantic british - except they want you to pay money for a wire splice...

Land Rover Window Lift Repair Kit

apparently the window lift ecu is notorious for failing.

I think I only have relays in the centre concole space behind the handbrake.

If I can dig up some more info, I will.

Amen and Amen, the window ECU (behind glove-box in my '95 softdash) WILL have 'dry' solder joints... If not, it WILL develop them... Mine HAD them and now they're fixed... First the REAR windows when I bought her, and last year the passenger-front window failed to proceed.
Remove the sinning circuit board, and look carefully at the 'heavy' joints around the relays and the harness connector.

    Thanks Guys,

this one is a '92 hard dash. The window unit in the center console seems to only have 5 relays in it ( 4 for up/down front windows ... and maybe one for the power feed to the rear window buttons) .... But where is the rear window relays ?

    seeya,

    Shane,

I wrote a reply to this earlier this morning but when submitting, found the site to be 'unresponsive' - i.e. Dave had taken it offline for upgrades.

    I've sent you a PM>

    Thanks Joe,

sorry for the delayed reply.... I've been a bit busy the last few days I'll see if I can't find those rear window relays using the diagrams!

Also, on another tack, check the wiring running from the body to the doors has not been pinched. It happened to my Defender.
