Question - RRC BW Viscous Coupling to LT230 convesrion - with a twist?

I've been reading that for RRC full on heavy towing, the LT230 transfer case is a better option than the Borg Warner Viscous Coupling.

All well and good, but I have a possible twist in that my RRC is fitted with a 1999 TD5 and a 4HP24 auto (the auto should not be an issue?).

Question 1 - I have no idea if the normal "grab a D1 LT230 including front shaft to mate up" conversion I have read about will work in my case, or if there is something not being considered eg bits won't line up, or turn the wrong way etc.

Question 2 - I also have no idea of the effective differences between D1 and D2 LT230s if any?
My D2A is a 2004 version with the CDL and my experience of the D1 version LT230 is non existent.

    Any relevant info gratefully received.

    Cheers

You likely won't have ABS and TC (traction control) off the TD5 donor so a D1 transfer case won't give you anything different to the functions you already have. D2 cases have a low range and CDL switches that tell the TC to behave differently, that's about it.

Thanks for that. Just to confuse the issue (and me) my MY95 RRC has the P38 ECU/ABS and linked back into the OBDII port (this gives me D2 TD5 type cruise control), and I think I recall traction control was standard to the rear only. The latter is probably irrelevant for my purposes, as I have fitted a pair of Trutracs front and rear.
