The borg warner has a different length front shaft to the LT230 vehicles........... Is the new front shaft the correct length?
seeya,
Shane L.
Has anybody fitted a double Cardan joint to the front of their RRC with a BW transfer case?
Specifically, has anybody fitted one from a discovery 2?
Are the flanges from a LT230 interchangeable?
Cheers!

My parts breakdown shows the same part number for the shafts. This could obviously be wrong as I have found other stuff that is incorrect.
The shaft I'm looking at is from a D2 and measures 600mm closed which is about 25mm less than mine with a 2" lift and settled.
I'm not worried about the length, just need to know if the front flange from an LT230 will go on a BW.

You would probably get a Tom Woods one anyway, which you can spec with a Rover pattern (not D2 pattern) DC joint on it. No need to worry about the flange then.

Cheers, had a look and may be something I add once I'm back working again.
Might just do the castor bushes, don't rebuild the shaft, put up with any possible vobration and once I can afford it, get something dedicated to the set up.
Cheers

I recently went from a stock front RRC front diff with slotted swivels (2"lift)- which was a smooooth set up- to a county front axle with maxi everything and castor correction bushes already installed.
The ****ing thing vibrates with the same lift and the propshaft would't clear the stock frame crossmember. Gonna be slotting the swivels on this when I get time, it's the only way.
cheers, DL
Yes, see this is where the cardan shaft comes into play. Also, the bushes need to be set right otherwise you can end up with more angle than needed. This has also got me thinking about cranked arms, but again, the cost isn't something to bear right now.
Saying that, I can't get onto the market place as I don't have house internet until Friday afternoon at the earliest. Phone is super low on data!

With respect............... LRA charge about $380 to slot the swivels. That's the 'big' spend to fix the issue. Did mine myself. That's it............ stock propshaft, no vibes, nice straight ahead steering.
All cranked arms do is a version of the effect of castor correction bushes while maybe keeping the stock chassis to radius arm bush angle stockish.
Is the lift you've got more than 2"?
