    Door Seal replacement

Hey I am looking for some tips and tricks when replacing the door seals.

I have all the required seal, just need some techniques for joining corners and cutting etc.

I have searched through YouTube and this forum, but I'm obviously not typing the right words for it to give me anything.

Also what glue is best to join the pieces.

    Cheers

I used super glue on the corners when I made new seals from lengths from Clark Rubber.
It held perfectly for a long time.

How did you get the right angles?

I'm thinking of cutting the originals at the joins and copying them. Probably the biggest issue there is if the originals have shrunk or not.

You day they held perfectly for a long time, does that mean they don't now or the vehicle is gone and we're holding at the time.

I think I just did a 45degree angle by using a sliding bevel and cutting along the blade.

They held for several years until I sold the car.

AFAIR there is only one angle join in the front doors at the top rear. AFAIR I used a paper cutter for the rubber and a pair of tin snips for the pinch weld as it has steel inside.

You can then leave a bit extra and join them underneath the reveal plate on the bottom.

I also moved the holes in the trim from the bottom to half way up the doors, to reduce the amount of water that could get in. You need holes for the air to expel when you shut the door.
    Regards Philip A

    Thanks for that Philip.

There are two joins, both up in the top corners. I see the holes you are talking about now and will take that advice in mind.

When the two nippers have gone to bed Il have a look at the best rubber compatible supper glue.

Il also have to find some patience and save it for the job..

Too late for you, but I can confirm that for the front doors at least, D2 rubbers fit the RRC.

I think I read a thread where you did comment this previous.

I had looked at my options there, but unfortunately it's the rears where my concerns are. Both will leak in heavy rain even after adjusting the doors/window frame.

Recently my driver's door Seal started to come apart and it is currently held together with netting clips.

    Door seal to body

Hi guys - my door seals are in ok condition but have come away from the car body.

Can anyone tell me which adhesive best for sticking em back on?

I have spray cans of 3M trim adhesive (part 08088) but thinking there's prob a better specialised adhesive for the job.

    Cheer
    Matt
