If your memory ecu is knackered you can use a passenger seat wiring harness and have just manual operation.

If you want to move the switch you can look at older Mercedes who use the same style of switch but is flush mounted. You might be able to mount them on the side of the console like the D2.

Ta. I have already manualised the seats (now have at least 2 of the not required under-seat memory circuit boards of questionable quality), used the original switches screwed into the underseat centre panel, and don't like this or the D2 setup, hence the questions. Might be the way to go if I can source a pair without breaking the bank. If I recall, it was Mercguy who fitted the old W? type mercedes switches -

Still the primary question is how many actual switches do I need for each seat? Don't need a memory function.


EDIT. Just taken a chance and ordered 2 second hand switch assemblies from a BMW 7 series as per BMW 7 Series E65 E66 Front Right Electric Seat Adjustment Switch O/S 6918379 | eBay .

Can’t remember if we’ve had this conversation, but I just made a top plate for existing switch boxes and wired up 4 double acting toggle switches. This gives 8 way control. Fore & aft sliding, raise & lower front, raise & lower rear and recline or raise backrest. Worked perfectly for last 60,000 km. Never sat on it, never spilled coffee on it, never found it got in the way. Able to use it without fumbling or looking for it ( not that I’d suggest you’d ever adjust the seat whilst moving 🤭 . Used chrome metal switches not plastic.
All done in my ‘94 soft dash LSE. And , yes it’s been bastardised fairly heavily too. Don’t feel too guilty. Not sure if you hate the placement inboard of the cushion or the O/E junk switch wherever it’s placed.

I fitted front plate just under seat with same thing 4 double acting toggle switches on the Merc AMG seats I initially fitted. This all worked perfect gave back/forth/tilt/incline. Could've fitted a fifth for heating but hey it was Qld. Seats were beautiful- but couldn't get them low enough on bases without major mods of tunnel hence on sold. But - similar thing we just wired a double acting toggle to each motor in the seat. Mount the toggles wherever you like. Works perfect.

Yep, don't like the inboard placement - first choice is outboard or if not possible, then under my legs (could live with either, but SWAMBOs Volvo has outboard, and I have enuff trouble swapping between cars and different control locations already.
I'm hoping the BMW ones I ordered will (i) work, and (ii) minimise number of levers to a max of 3.

Hello:Hope you can answer a question about this please.
I have hotwired my drivers seat to minimally work for now but will eventually install a harness from a left seat that I have, but, the mirrors have left me stumped.
Is the D2 toggle a plug and play solution, or need additional wiring? Either way would really like to have them work - any info would be appreciated, thanks. Simon
