    1986 Dual Brake lines

    Hi,
Has anyone got a photograph to show which pipe goes to which inlet on the front callipers on a 1986 non abs dual circuit system? Does it matter which port is used for the primary and secondary system?
    Thanks

This pdf might help. The primary circuit (not shared by back brakes) should be the front one - I guess if its split it shouldn't make a lot of difference, but I can't be sure

The brakes are virtually impossible to bleed if the hoses are the wrong way round at the front callipers.

The actual metal pipes on my the body of my POS were wrong from when it was assembled in Sydney.

Surely that diagram is labelled backwards? Surely the primary brake lines are the ones that go to the front and rear brakes.... and the secondary (backup) brakes are the front only circuit (that is probably at the end of the master cylinders travel).

    I reckon you’re right!

That rings a bell because of the confusion I had at the time with trying to bleed the brakes after a complete system rebuild.

I did post about it at the time...... some 15+ years ago.

The pdf is straight out of the 2 volume Range Rover manual. Maybe the labels are misleading - but the locations based on the drawing are what I used when installing the brake lines from an 89 into my 91 SE after I completely stripped out the broken ABS system. The brakes bled OK and are working great.

Just had a look at mine, which are technically 81 or 82 but are the same as the diagram.

    The labels are wrong.

The pipes to the hose junctions on mine were round the wrong way and I spent a week figuring it out before I realised the misleading labelling was confusing the issue.

Soon as I swapped them at the junctions they bled straight up and have been great ever sine.
