So it was the FPR all the time.
And none of us advised that although I had a fleeting thought.
AFAIK you cannot remove a piston from below I am afraid.
Get a lottery ticket, you deserve to win something.

Only one way to know I guess
For those that can't make sense of the video from an 8year old height. The fuel pressure reguatlor is pump the pumps capacity straight out of the vacuum connection on top ..... which will flow straight into the inlet manifold beside No 8 cylinder

Sorry if I have missed it but did you drain the oil out to check that it is actually overfuelling enough to bend a rod? How much petrol has drained into the sump?
I've had too mch rum to think about anything with the FPR, althought that is'nt making total sense to me right now either. That's not the first or last time for sure.
Its the combustion chamber that gets filled. Up comes the piston , hits non compressible fluid, bends rod.Sorry if I have missed it but did you drain the oil out to check that it is actually overfuelling enough to bend a rod? How much petrol has drained into the sump?
This could happen if the inlet valve was open and petrol pouring into inlet manifold nearby.
Could of course be a blown head gasket from same.

With huge thanks to Homestar .... the ****box is back on the road. Just in time to get back to work ( driving the fire trails to take the kids to school ) and tow the caravan to the beach. I even gave it a wash ( unheard of! ).
This motor feels way gruntier than any other range rover I've driven. Its silent... the only noise you can hear when its running is the accessory belt whiring. If I sit my hand on top of the plenum .... its very smooth. This is one sweet little motor! It runs really well on both gas and LPG (the injectors fitted to it were green band. The fuel rail was full of grit and junk, so I swapped the original fuel rail in, but the injectors and fuel pressure regulator from this motor).
so far its leak free.... we'll see in time.

Shane,
I gather that’s the engine from my old Aegean blue parts car you’ve got ? I’ve got an inkling it’s recently rebuilt .
