If you can buy a really cheap air fed mask ..... I'm really happy with the valspar paint I used on the ****box range rover. The problem with acrylic laquer is it doesn't last at all on a car you use and leave out in the weather (bird **** especially damages it).

Fruit bat **** is worse, will eat 2 pak, but I've got a big shed, don't drive it every day, yes it's masai red, the worst for UV, and i've been using Dulon on surfboards since 1979.

I don't have the gear to do 2 pack (unless I borrow your water filter and fibreglass your centre console) and I don't think it's worth it atm. Convince me more.

I did enjoy all your 2 pack posts btw. I'd be interested to know the name of the place in the 'rat' where you bought the Velspar stuff for your RRC to see what they'd charge for acrylic.

    take care Shane, DL

Hi, I'm new to the forum and also like to tag along on the painting guide. I have 4 flare cut guards and an assortment of panels to go on instead.

It's seems like both Epic and I will need to compile a list/instructions as we go.

I have a rear door I will practice on. It will be good practice as it has no rust, minor damage and peeling clear coat, but I will still need to fix up a couple of dents, remove the bumper strip, remove pin strips and a couple of deeper scratches.

I only have basic tools and space as well, so should be very DIY.

If it's urathane under the rubber strip, just slice as close to panel as possible thst stuff doesn't come off. You end up just painting over it

If you ever figure out how to refit the rubber closing strip on the back of that door ..... Let me know how you did it

J&D Auto paints in ballarat. I've been going there since I was about 16years old. They probably will have no idea who I am thought if you mention my name (I've only really painted maybe 3 cars in the last 15years .... just no time).

Its probably been the same people in there behind the counter since I started going there too LOL. They are pretty good with there advice and suggestions
