    Agreed

    Phil - Thanks
Agreed - I will aim to find a 2 Door, as early a model as possible but focus on one that is complete and seems to be mainly original!
I want one to drive occasionally
    Profit = highly unlikely!
    Thanks
    Cheers

I had a 1975 RRC many years ago, and now in my more mature years I decided that I want one again.
Year model is not important to me as long as it was a 2 door.
I bought a 1982 RRC as they “all look the same”.
It is in reasonable mechanical condition but I will still go over everything just to be sure.
There is some rust in the front floors and bottom of the A pillars. These I can fix, However every body panel needs work and I will attempt this but I may have to have them done professionally if I can’t achieve an acceptable finish.
My main criteria was to get a car that was complete and this one is other than a few interior trim panels which are available.
Im not trying to make a profit from the restoration as the restoration is the project that I want to do and then ultimately have a RRC to drive around (and probably constantly tinker with) for many years to come.

There's couple on car sales that look in reasonable nick and pretty complete for 20 to 27k.

If I was going to do a resto that's the sort of price I'd pay, especially if the diff numbers match the chassis.

The white 72 on carsales has dropped in price. Seems very reasonable now. The dash looks to be in great condition, which, aside from matching numbers is a component that is very hard to find a replacement for especially with early vehicles that do not have diff lock light switch in dash. I'd be seriously be looking at that one!

On closer inspection it appears to be a later dash top, and diff lock light not in diff lock switch so possibly not original gearbox. Looks like original grey steering wheel and engraved scuttle badges. Rust looks to be minimal. Still a reasonable proposition if original engine and axles.

FWIW the steering box ratio changed either Oct 72 or Oct 73 can't remember which. It went from 2.7 to 3.7 turns lock to lock, it made them a lot nicer to drive around town.

This suffix "c" looks to be in very good condition once you get past the modifications. Gear knob is early type and in great condition. New quarter panels and front guards are available now. Personally I define an early car as an "a" or "b" and prefer the painted D-pillar look. But it's obviously up to the individual.

One of the best mods I did 20 years ago was to instal PS from an 80/81................... along with replacing the LT95 with a C9 auto Ritters conversion from the same 80/81, which was a JLR option in Oz in 80/81. (I can't remember what year the parts car was............80 or 81? )

Horses for courses......... I'm not concerned about originality, but I do admire the efforts of those who have the bug. (My POS did have the 350 in it when I oriiginally bought it ,)

    cheers, David L
