The problem is you can't really use a spirit level to define the level of the engine relative to the chassis in this manner because most vehicles will have slight level variations of the actual chassis.
If I were to measure the (spirit) level of the engine in my 2 V8s they would both show different readings because one of them the chassis is front down, but the other is rear down.
If you use Bobs' measurements(as another random owners measurement) and his vehicles are modded in some way, with suspension or winches or bullbars .. then he'd have different values as well.
You'd need to measure the level of the engine relative only to the chassis itself. That is, get measurement of the front of the rocker cover compared to the chassis, then do the same for the rear end of the cover relative to the chassis too.
But a quick eyeball of my 2 D2 v8s, it does look like the V8 has a front up appearance(relative to the chassis, that is).
