    4.3 Litre Install

A new post as there's no dilemma its happening.
Ok a productive Boxing day. Dressed the 4.3 with flywheel/pressure plate/clutch plate/starter and port matched edelbrock inlet manifold. Couldn't fit water pump as am missing a gasket.
Then fitted it into white truck got four bell housing bolts in so its secure. Will fit engine mounts once all bell housing bolts are in.
Then start on ancillaries. Will be a bit stop/start due to time of year/other engagements. Anyway pleased that as single old block engine went in pretty easy. I do have an LT95 input shaft so am able to fit up clutch correctly which helps. You'll see a pic of sump which was modded to fit 3.4" stroker crank.

Looks like you have the same engine crane and engine leveller as me. Got mine from Hare and Forbes (Engine Tilters - Hare & Forbes Machineryhouse ).
Makes life so much simpler when working by yourself.

It amazes me what we can do with no tools and lots of determination. Accumulating tools over your lifetime sure makes life easier. I now have the use of a 4 post hoist and in the last week I've had to do a clutch change on the daughters car ... and ended up buying an underhoist gearbox jack and engine support bar ... with "compact" modern cars, it certainly makes life easier.

So its a standard 3.9 with a long stroke crank taking out to 4.3. Is the 4.6 a bigger bore as well? Did you build this yourself and just have it sitting under a bench waiting for "the day" where it would be installed

I drill out the spot welds so I could remove the bonnet catch panel. Its re-iinstalled with rivnuts so you can unbolt it again at any time. The entire lot them comes in and out

The hoist came from cheapest group I could find online a mob down in Melb. $400 delivered to Qld. Its my second what I do is once all need for hoist is finished for foreseeable future I sell it on marketplace. Typically get at least 50% of purchase price back.
Then IF in future a hoist is needed- renting them is about $80 a day - so I do the math. This hoist stays until tranny is swapped then will go.

Engine - it's a thick web 3.5 built by a friend who used to run Roverland. Its his engine out of his two door. He sold his two door many years ago but removed the engine and had it sitting under a bench. It cost him 13k to build years ago. A 3.4 " mehinite counter balanced custom crank, custom pistons with gudgeons high in piston, decked heads and block, flowed heads trick valve springs wade cam etc etc etc. It came with twin SU's the holden ek distributor. All manifolds beautifully port matched.
But as I'm time poor am using my distributor/inlet manifold and carby (Edelbrock performer manifold that I port matched to his heads and Edelbrock 500 carb) as using his means new wiring/ new air cleaners - the engine came with twin donaldson filters which would need mounting somewhere/ somehow.
He claims engine makes 300 bhp and revs like clappers so will see.
I've got the SU's/donaldsons and distributor etc so if needed when time permits - would fit then.

Did you post it using a web interface or an "app"?
