81 Range Rover Auto which transmission?
Hi Just got my latest project home, as above it's a 2 door auto, but which auto is it. how would I tell the difference between a C4 or a torqueflite ? I has the same shifter as the torqueflite pictured in various books.
Thanks, (if you can help me)
Paul

If you don't know by looking at the auto's, then by the transfer cases, one used a machined off LT95 (c4) and the other i believe used the LT230R.
Or by how many bolts are in the transmission pan may help.

Thanks Vern.
Having come from the ZF borg warner world not really sure what I'm looking at as far as transfer case goes either.
here's a clue.
Transfer case has a high low selector and a lock for center diff lock.
I think there are 15 bolts on the transmission pan.

Could be a Borg Warner 35 like I had! For your sake I hope not. Heres a thread that might help.

It looks like it's a BW35,
I thought I'd left those behind.
it has the same control layout as this pic.

but the pan does look different(ie different patten)
any recommendations ?
