Thread: Australian CSKs - where are they?

    From range rover :: csk

    <snip>But not every CSK had two doors. In Australia, there was a special edition four-door model badged as a CSK. It was created by the importers and carried a simple CSK logo which was not intended even remotely to resemble Spen King's signature. There were 400 Australian-specification CSK's made at the same time, in emulation, but they were based on the standard four-door Vogue SE equipped with a coachline and a logo.

    <snip>So Land Rover can only state a production number of the CSK's that were built and check if the VIN number of the car is correct. For instance, we know that Spen King's own Range Rover CSK was the 5th of the line but has the certificate and plaque number 200. Edition number 001 was actually number 6 that rolled of the production line. And the edition number 041 (now owned by Michiel Bakkenes) was number 75 of the production line. So again, it is very important to check if the car has a individually numbered plaque on the radio panel confirming its exclusivity of a true CSK. If the seller still have the original certificate paper of that particular edition number, than you're a really lucky buyer.

    I'm sure there weren't 400 CSKs sold in Australia. I remember at the time we were only allocated 2 (maybe 4) of the 4 door CSKs. 50 nationwide rings a bell.
    Maybe "Australian spec" doesn't mean sent to Australia.

    They were only available in white & black but demand was so great for them that some dealers resorted to making mock-ups.
    I know we made 1 in silver.

    They were touted at the time as being the fastest Range Rover ever, which was a bit strange as they were the same spec as the Vogue SE.

    You will see some great photos of CSK 11 in this thread.

    It was the SE QLD 60th Anniversary Convoy from Bris to the GC.

    Hi All,

    I thought I would let you know that I own a 4 door 91 Vogue SE CSK Rangie in Beluga Black. Unfortunately I have to let it go and am hoping to find a good home for it.

    I'm happy to say it's probably has one of hte lowest Km's of most classic shape rangie's in Australia being 153000kms. The ad is on Carsales or please send me a message through this forum.

    Thanks,
    Steve

    A land rover mechanic i know changed an engine in a CSK once, and when he was rebuilding the motor he removed, No one knew what it was. Even though it was a 3.9, the number didnt line up with anything in any books/part catalogues. Has anyone else heard of this? mabe the motors were actually a bit special.

    rumour has it that the original CSK's (not the aussie dealer mock up and ship out crap overpriced vogue versions) the proper job, with the leather interior smoothed and stitched by the hands of the last know virgin in England. A few of these ones had the engines played with by a few bored Birmingham based engineers using a few surplus parts from the development bin of shame. Using a few internals from a big pussy cats heart they were trying to out do a few not so bored but poorly payed with a few more perks, Blackpool based engineers playing with a similar engine. The loser had to buy the beer, Balti and chips.

    If you don't believe it, prove me wrong.
