    Question Radiator /Fan cowl Mismatch

Hi there, I have an '89 Classic Vogue, but when I bought it, it had no main fan, or fan cowl. I am currently trying to rectify this, and have bought or salvaged the most of what I need, but I am having trouble with the fan cowl.

I have been supplied the appropriate cowl for '89 3.5 V8 EFI and it is 28.5 inches long, by 16.5 inches high.

However, the radiator in my rangie appears to require a 30 inch wide cowl, and the entire radiator is 33.5 inches wide.

I have been trying to find out why there is a difference and more importantly what the part number for the wider cowl is.

The cowl is of the type that sits in slots at the bottom and screws into the top sheath of the radiator in four places.

Any information regarding the cowls/radiators for any models between '88, '89 and '90 models is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Range Rover/Fan Cowl mismatch Update

    An update to my situation..

I have found that my vehicle was manufactured in Feb '89, but someone I know has an '88 Range Rover that appears to have the same wider radiator as I have.

Can anyone confirm a radiator size change to a smaller radiator between '88/early '89 models of RR Classic and the late '89/'90 models?

    Thanks,

    Paul

Yes .... To there is a change of radiators sizes ... But I don't know if they went bigger or smaller as it went to 1989 / 90

I have the 1990 model ... There are 2 ID plates in the engine bay

1 plate will only say ... BUILT 1988
The 2cnd MAIN ID plate will have another year stamped on it ... 89
(it's this way or reversed ... Don't have my car here to referr to)

When ordering parts for your car ... referr to the later stamped year (1989)

Sounds as tho you would be hunting the radiator parts from a range of years "89 to 95?"

Trouble with old cars tho, is the radiators get replaced and renewed ... So I could not confirm what you have with out physically seeing it

    The things I do.
OK I went down and had a look at my 92 3.9 Rad.
My fan cowl is 28.5 inches long.
My Radiator is 32.75 inches long.
My cowl fits perfectly to the raised edge of the tanks at each side.
My cowl has "beware rotating parts" in raised printing on top of where the fan is.
    Hope this helps

    Radiator/Fan Cowl Mismatch

    Thanks Mike and Phillip,

Sounds like the radiator you have Phillip is the match for mine.

I am now however more confused, becuase I have evidence saying that an '88, '89, and now a '92 model RR each with the bigger 28.75 inch radiator, and fan cowl, and yet when I ordered a replacement fan cowl for an '89 model, they sent be the smaller one?!?

I will try to get the '92 model cowl from them, and return the shorter one.

Thank you again for your help.
