Thread: auto Diff lockers

Forget any locker with 10 spline axles. I have been 4 wheeling with Timaus13 and he is just running 750R16's, (Mudders though) and long, soft springs and he goes just about anywhere I can, and I have 33" mud terrains and a detroit locker in the rear
The key here is keep the weight down, and use long soft springs.
Mine is a heavy Isuzu diesel powered 1992 4 door with lots of stuff hanging off it and inside it. Tim has a bare essential 1976 2 door V8 that weighs I reckon 500Kg less than mine
Tim drives sensibly too, thats why he hasn't broken an axle yet either.

Try Locked Drive Systems they should be able to help and are generally cheaper than the re-sellers.

I haven't had anything to do with auto lockers, but have a dim recollection that one style suffers damage if an axle breaks - sorry can't recall what type or more detail.

Weld it, its a much cheaper way to break the piddly widdle 10 spliners

I'm pretty sure thats the Detroit locker. Something in it shatters.

a detroit locker will work (check the shopping trolley for info on who sells and reports)... also heard the other day that hi-tuff/high-tough (old maxi) have some heavy duty 10 splines if interested (or just keep a second set in the vehicle with you)

Also a possibility that Grimace may have a 10 spline detroit if you PM him

Problem is, you still need to remove the centre to get the end of the broken axle out
