Hey guys just a quick question. I have the elderbrock manifold on my 85 rangie. On the back of the water pump there is two water hose outlets. One goes to the heater system the other is just blocked of with a rubber cap. On the weekend in wombat the rubber cap gave way. I am just wondering if I should get a another rubber cap or should i use a T junction on to the other hose?
What do you guys recommend. I have a large length of hose going to and back from the gas converter so I was thinking that maybe the extra pressure would help push the water around better.
Also I think my thermostat is shot as the temp gauge climbs to three quarters then all of a sudden drops back to half then climbs back up. This seems to be linked to nothing else. Does that sound like the thermostat?
Thanks
Kris
One of the hoses was originally the inlet for the heater. That would be the one towards the outside of the pump.
The other was the outlet, and that would be the one near the centre of the pump.
Who knows what you have now? I assume there is a return pipe from the heater to the manifold somewhere.
I would NOT join the two pipes as they would tend to cancel each other out, as one sucks and one blows.
So replace the rubber cap.
BTW I think that the inlet for the heater should be the one towards the outside of the pump and the return to the manifold. That way you should get hotter water.
I may stand corrected as Its along time since I have fiddled with these old setups.
