Where are you located?
All,
Doing some thinking over the weekend, oh-oh.
Does anyone know any wreckers that would do a P38 HSE front half cut? Looking at doing a full engine conversion in my RRC 3.9l auto.
Cheers
Chris

x2!!!!!
I did an engine/gearbox conversion with the motor supplied by Andy. He makes it way too easy by including absolutely everything - down to the last nut, bolt and washer needed for the conversion. I'm 3.5 hours from Sydney and it is without a doubt worth the trip.
His user name on here is "andy e" I think.

I mean this in in a nice way? but why would you put that engine in? sure they go in pretty easy but they don't make much power, use a fair bit of fueland cost heaps to buy and fix.
i have a hse 4.6 p38 on gas as a daily, its a great car on and off road but i would not spend all that money in putting the engine in a older range rover. i would go a vr 3.8 v6, 308, 350 or even look at some turbos before doing the 4.6l engine in a old range rover
Its bolt in, handles 4WDing angles and is alloy.

bolts in is not worth the fuel bill, lack of power, slipped liners and what it costs in the 1st place. you can get gen3 chevs for the same price or even cheaper a 308 you can buy a kit for a weights about 50 kgs (lets face it thats a steel bull bar and winch with wire cable) more now thats not even thinking about a v6 that makes more power, weights the same and are every where. you just have to find a kit.
i don't mean to rub people the wrong way but the rover engines just don't add up when doing a engine conversion.
Perhaps, but they're still not Rover or bolt in.
I agree though and am a fan of the modern chevs. The next jigger which I'm starting to accumulate bits for I would love to do an LS1+ conversion to (actually, I'd really like an LS9 but I don't think so), but what gearbox do you adapt it to, or run the T700 and then adapt it again, then how do you stop the leaks that the T700/LT230 is notorious for if its rego'd, and then how long is it and whats the cost of shafts, what radiator, how to the shroud and then how much does it and then etc etc etc......... as I said, a really nice setup that I personally would like to pursuit a little later - but still very different to..... just bolt it in over the weekend and go driving.
Cheers
