A Holley 350 carby conversion used to be very popular, gives you more grunt but not as good in serious off road. You need to get a manifold and weld on the Holley adaptor plate.
G'day,
I was thinking now that the LPG system is due for a Check as its past its 10 years I want to remove the LPG system completey from the Rangie and just run the thing on Petrol.
If any one has any recomendations on what best way to run it on fuel ie, different carbie set ups. etc. would be great to hear what others have done with their vehicles.
the rangie has the origional 3.5 motor with electronic ingnition and the standard Stromberg Dual Carbs. i havent really modified it basically over the 5 years ive had it i serviced it on a regular basis.
Later i also intend on replacing the 3 speed with a 4 speed box.
cheers,
Chris

sounds good enough to me, I'd leave it as it is as long as your carbs are still up to scratch.
thanks gees by looking at that pic theres plenty of space to work, ive got hoses and pipes everywhere due to the LPG setup its even hard enough for me to get to the darn oil Cap. I will just have the LPG sytem removed and leave the standard carbs. i need to get another set of elbows for the air cleaner because my ones have been chopped in half. eithier that or can put K&N filters on each end!
you know that the tanks only need to be tested every 10 years?
I don't think they have to be removed every 10 years.
ok thanks i didnt know that, my tank was last checked back in 02.
Hey mate
heres my two cents pull off the LPG and throw it away. It caused me nothing but problems including leaking into the car. I have the elderbrock manifold which is supposed to lower the torque range and then strapped a Holden Quadrajet. Just make sure its one with the choke on the side. Change the choke oveer to a electronic one. Then get the carby retuned for the 3.5 which is a easy job as there is just one screw to adjust thats hidden. I love this setup plenty of power and tourque. Its also rather econimical setup too.
Cheers
Kris
G'day chris1983rangie
If your tank was tested in 02 it is in date until 2012mine was tested in 08 and is in date until 2018, I run a 1985 3.5 HC 9.35:1 ratio 5 speed with electronic Dist and Stromberg CD 175se carbs on gas with original aircleaner (tossed the foam ones out) and it runs great, gets about 5.5klms to the litre mixed highway and local, and with petrol around the $1.20 ltre mark and gas at 48.9 that works out at about 30+ miles to the gallon
no way I could get that out of the Dunnydore
If it aint broke don't fix itjust get the gas piping tidied up
cheers
yeah im having it looked over tomorrow to have the carbs setup propely on fuel because it runs fine on GAS. ill leave it if they can sort it out and ill have the pipes tidied up. yes i agree if its not broken leave it. but as soon as they tell me something on the LPG needs fixing if its gona cost alot, off it goes!
well i dropped it off this morning and they have the Rangie for a couple of days, so we had a quick look under the bonnet before i left and they said it has a very good LPG system on it. theyl check over everything give it a tune, timing & adjust the carbies and see how we go.
regards,
Chris
