Removing Auto From Rangie
Hey guys, I have sold the auto from my 86 RR Classic parts car and intend to take it out tomorrow. Have never done this on a Rangie but am pretty experienced with spanners. Just read the manual and it all looks pretty straight forward. Is there anything I need to look out for?

Yeah, they're damn heavy! Pretty straightforward though. If you haven't removed an auto trans before, be careful to lever the torque convertor away from the drive plate before you drop the tranny, after removing the drive plate-to-torque convertor bolts. Otherwise the convertor can drop off the transmission input shaft as you remove the transmission and you'll get about 4 litres of trans fluid on the floor and yourself.

....and you'll break the tangs on the oil pump... Fashion a hold in plate and use a bolt hole in the bell housing to hold the TC in place against the gearbox.
Don't let it fall on any part of you - it %$%^#%^ hurts - don't ask me how I know!
