    fuel mixture goin crazy!!!

Ok where do I start. 3.9 EFI with haltech interceptor.

The car was running sweet for 150ks worth of driving and was fine yesterday when I turned it off after getting home from work. This morning it's basically spitting fuel out the exhaust.

Its constantly all over the shop. Driving me insane.

I already ordered a com cable to plug my lappy into the car to see if the haltech software can give me some sort of clue as to what is goin on.

I was just wondering if anyone can think of the main things to check/change so I can organise to try get it all done this weekend (cam, heads and injector change already in the pipeline).

Will be cleaning the maf as I did run a k&n for a while (switched back to paper).

I just want consistancy with this pos, the fuel economy jumps around all over the place

Start the motor & pull the plug off the MAF .... Does it still run?

I have not done this yet, but in the past the car has always run with the plug off the maf, just rough, but still running.

Read this post ... V8 Landy has the same problem / solution

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ning-rich.html

    On the flip side ....
Check the TPS with a multi meter ... push the prongs into the plug ...
wire code is Red = Positive & green = negative

Turn ignition to ON (not running).... closed throttle = 0.33 to 0.35 volts ... fully open throttle = 5 volts .... if closed and registers 5 volts ... this = stuffed TPS

The other fix might be that the Haltec might have lost it's map

I hope not... I have no backup!

That's what I was goin to work on this arvo, saving the defualt/current map, and then start reading/learning about tuning to the best of my ability. Might even run multiple maps (City/highway/offroad) .

Gonna get some circuit board cleaner this arvo and start with the afm and items mentioned in your link.

    Cheers

So far cleaned the maf with some co contact cleaner and removed the gauze from the front of the maf. Fuel mixture is back to normal but power and drivability is no different, maybe a slightly better idle.

Pulled a couple of plugs and they were slightly burnt (not oily as I was expecting?) Will change them this weekend when I get stuck into the top end.

Tonight I will check the TPS and report back.

Also went out in the tinny and got a few sand crabs, will be goin out again this arvo to check the pots again.

p.s. RE: The haltech interceptor - The damn cable I ordered is on back order till the 18th so I am desperately trying to source a 9pin com cable (null modem etc) DB9 female-female.
Until then I will not be able to check the current map and load points of the piggyback.

So you could do with a lend of a cable ... eh ... someone close-by must have one for a share in those crabs

Who put the map in it .... in the first place?

Would gladly swap crabs for cable

The original tune was done at Graeme Coopers when I purchased the vehicle.
