I haven't any pics, but from reading UK LR magazines, the modification was done without cutting the gearbox in half.
To the best of my knowledge, the main gearbox section was gutted, and after a few minor grinds of the interior, the innards of an automatic were inserted. After all, physically an auto is mostly a set of gear clusters. Apparantly there was plently of room left over, and the torque converter fitted in the bellhousing OK.
