True,but it helps hey
There is a 91 Rangie on ebay for 33k,has a ton of goodies though, worth the money but may be on there for a while until someone realizes its value.
Fairly keen to keep it rover, for various reasons

Stroker, well I'm skeptical it ever was,it was sold to me as a 4.2 stroker with the car, but it doesn't drive as one,had it checked out heaps, but never had heads off.
hmm, interesting, what years does the 4HP24ES come out of,can u put the compushift up high and it not be effected by water,or is it best to use the internals on a 4HP22? approx cost?
I was gonna jump in and say go for it and dont think about it just do it. but **** 11k
I recently looked at the 5L option and I got upto about 7k costing. I either missed something or it's costing 4k to do all the labour.
Also dont be thinking that a new engine is gonna raise the value all that much, that rangie you speak of is not worth that much, its just a pretty motor in an old vehicle.
If your even thinkin about resale values, then I would say its not in your best interest. But hey I have no problems with it if you do. :)
Im thinking of doing up the whole car, maybe even paint, give it a new lease on life. Not really thinking of re sale, just pointing out that it will be more valuable if and when i ever do sell, i realize you never make money on cars.
so what would be included in your 7k ?
short block, heads, cam lifters etc etc. No allowance for other ancillaries as I was hoping to re-use my originals. No allowance for labour as all was to be done at home with mates over a couple of weekends and lots of beers :)
I did have a paper list of bit and rough part calculations. But who knows what happened to that.
I had a thread up not long ago I should try find it as i may have had more info hidden in there.
Hey mate
Try giving TRS a call in SA.
They sell many 4.6 and some with high compression too.
I bought 2 there with great results and if sticking to a 4.6 with say a Haltech system, you will find the box will cope and you get great performance that will be reliable and come in way under the $11k.
Good luck either way but resale will not go up by much as the buyer pretty well expects a car with motor, that it is a stonker is just a bonus.
Ok finally dicided on getting "kurmit"(Rangie Automotive's) to put the 4.6L he had for sale in.
Low k's,Wolf management and a bit of work done!
Also getting some other goodies with the money i saved going second hand engine.
Never used him before but he seems to really know his Rangies, will let you all know how it pans out.
Might post up some pics when its all done.
Some of the mods "Kurmits" doing at the same time as the new 4.6 engine:
Snorkel
Breathers for everything tapped into snorkel
Maxi drive rear locker
Rear ARB Bar and Carrier modded to suit 2.5inch body lift
9500 pound Winch,Front bar mods to accept winch
Getting rid of viscous transfer:D
Dual batteries
Will try to get pics posted up as it gets built up.
