Have you changed the spark plugs?
My D1 was breaking down under load and running like crap and it was foulled plugs, caused by the vacuum advance not working. Replaced vacuum advance and it was all good.
hi all, still having trouble with my 1990 rangie not going under load. changed fuel pump, filter, fuel injectors, fuel temp plug. think now its the airflow meter. is there any way i can check it?? and if it is can i get a none genuine one to fit?

Ah, the old diagnosis by replacement.
Seeing you have replaced so much, I suggest that you test the TPS( Throttle Position Sensor) .
To do this get a preferably analogue multimeter, and check that the voltage moves smoothly from about 0.4 or so at closed throttle to 4.5 volts at full throttle. You can back probe the terminals or stick a pin through the wires.
it will be obvious which wire as one will be 5 volts, one nil =earth and the third will vary.
You are looking for any jumps or recession in voltage as you turn the throttle from idle to full.
You can check the MAF in a similar way. Back probe the two end connections and see if the voltage is around 1 volt at idle. Rev the engine and see if the voltage increases. If so it is probably OK, but in any case clean the two sensor wires in the little hole by spraying with CO contact cleaner., and check that the connector is good and twist the prongs a little to ensure good contact. And I mean a LITTLE.
