I stucka tent peg in my drill to stir it up coz its been sitting a while and was very lumpy.
I painted the 4 replacement door hinges. Then i went mad on the pink spots that were on the green paint on the bushpig. I also painted the shiny galve d shackles ive got hanging front and rear.
Then i painted the pintle towball type hitch.
    Its all green now.

I rang protec and asked about the other 2 paint colours. They have the green and black but no tan. Bugger. They no longer manufacture the paint in Adelaide. It now comes from Melbourne. Only in 4lt tins too. They have the green and black also in spray cans but again no tan. Grrr.
    No pics today. Sorry.

Oh and i made a 12 pin plug to 7 pin large socket adaptor as well. Must test it tomorrow with the tester thingy.

I have found Protec very frustrating, try another store. What is impossible for one store is in always in stock at another.

Sorry guys, I keep forgetting to update...

Past week: Refurbish bonnet tools and get new tires.
    whole.jpg

Tools: The axe and mattock has been re-hafted using bunnings hardwood hafts, and the mattock head has been repainted using primer then this stuff: Montana BLACK 400ml | BLACK 50ml - 600ml | SPRAY PAINT | SPRAY CANS | MONTANA CANS – highest quality urban art supplies in their colour "murdock" which is pretty close to the perentie OD. Tool mounts back on bonnet using Zinc-coated steel M6 bolts (the originals where I still had them, new ones when not) and nylock nuts.

Tires: These were getting pretty manky and old, I'd had a couple of punctures on asphalt(!) so was keen to get a new set. Based on this thread: Biggest and best tires for Perentie 6" rims - Thanks @Badco! I looked around for a good 235-85R16 tire. After a bit of searching around and reading reviews, I went with BFGoodrich All Terrain KO2 tires: Bfgoodrich ALL-TERRAIN T/A KO2 235/85R16 120S Tyres - Buy Online Price $279 I have saved the two best ones and put them on the two spare rims I have. One went below in the usual spot on the frame, while the other I have rachet-strapped down to the load bolts at the front end of the tray between my tool box and the ROPS - There isn't any movement, so I expect it to hold just fine. They are much quieter than the XZL Michelins, but I don't expect them to last as long based on reviews Would have got a new set of Michelins but couldn't find them for less than stupid money...

The jerry in there is empty, just using the back for storage ATM.

    Next set of jobs:
    - Repaint the new bolts on the bonnet.
    - Figure out a method of securing bonnet tools so no bugger nicks them.
    - Clean all the dust out of the dashboard (again).
    - Corner some mechanical type to help me through re-oiling the front swivel pin housings and help me check the old girl over for any other mechanical bits and pieces to keep an eye on. I'm happy to pay in beer/time/heavy lifting, if you are keen and are in Adelaide.

So today i tested my 12 pin to 7 pin plug adaptor. Works great.

I fitted a UHF aerial bracket to the roo bar today then found somewhere to route the wire. What a nightmare. Had to pull most of the dash out to get it neat. Now ive put it all back together i forgot to run 2 wires for the driving lights switch. Bugger. Im also thinking about a dual battery setup. But will run those wires along the chassis where the 24 volt cables were. Will prob run 2 N70 size deep cycle batteries in the left battery tray box. Offset the weight a bit. Then run an anderson plug into the rear and plug a couple power sockets into it. Not sure if my projecta isolater will allow me to run the solar panels on the roof or if i just set them up beside the bushpig during the day. Thinking thinking...
Gotta get a price on the batteries first.
Put a couple kings 9" led spotties on top of the roo bar. I havent fitted the lights yet. They are a bit high i think. My light bar is too big to mount on the bar so it'll have to wait. Gotta fit the awning to the left side yet and thinking about fitting the rear one as well. All this just for Melrose... cool.

    Cheers Rod
