That RFSV is looking small next to Band- Aid.

but dont know the red colour, its not Camouflage Pilbara Brown - 342-5239...as they have tried these codes to mix at protec...anyone know what the red colour is? looks like rust kill red undercoat.

also got a quote for the seepdo cable for perentie-PRC6043 for lower cable. PRC6037 for upper cable, they came in at $255.00 for lower cable. $320.00 for upper cable...wow expensive

    thanks

The red colour is Pilbara Red which Protec sadly does not make any more.
You may be able to special order it, but I don't think you'll be able to get it in an aerosol.

Those be crazy prices for cables. for that much you can (almost) get an entirely new VDO unit.

    Justin, your rigs look great!

Had a good couple of days getting to know ARN51-745. I met up with AULRO member TM_Co and he very kindly showed me how to service and check all the fundamental components. All oils and filters changed and I feel a lot more knowledgeable thanks to TM_Co's help. Also met up with another forum member, Dodge, who came past late in the day to check out TM_Co's Perentie's. All in all a great day! Hopefully we can all get out for a run in the near future together. Also fitted a sound system to ARN51-745. No holes and no bolts or screws. I was able to use the power socket located on the roll bar behind the passenger seat to power up a blue tooth UBoom speaker. Simply cabled tied the speaker to the rifle holding clips on the roll bar. Very secure and the steel plate on the roll bar behind the speaker directs the sounds forward. It is amazing how good it sounds for such a simple little speaker. All music and radio comes via my iPad, iPhone or digital radio that is blue toothed to the speaker. I fitted a dual USB power socket in place of the cigarette lighter socket and it powers both the speaker and iPhone/iPad or radio. Works a treat and sounds really good. Also works as a hands free device for my iPhone when I am talking while driving, not that I will use this feature but it was handy yesterday when I was using Google Maps and getting directions to find TM_Co's house. I could easily hear the Google directions over the Isuzu BD4 symphony. Regards Warrick.

I was checking the Bing Lee $98 special on the Philips XRgs2-nB x DK squared whatever. Only 6hrs batt life. Then I looked at The Logitech which is light shower-waterproof but not carwashproof etc. Then I looked at the Logitech mega boom boom which is pricey but has 15hrs batt life or something.

All of these seem to make use of the cupholders because in the US vehicles they have a SUV ADR type of thing specifying 18 cup holders.

    I will keep looking.

Went out to Woodhill Forest on Saturday with a few other trucks. Had a good time and shamed a few haters.

    Had a few incidents though...

Managed to drown Hank in a big bog, water was nearly going in my gumboots when I was sitting at the wheel. Hank inhaled A LOT of water. Dragged it back to a mates place nearby and stripped out the air cleaner and hoses and spent a few hours drying everything. A mechanic mate did what ever you do with the glow plugs.

Put it all back together, fired it up and drove home. How awesome are these engines?

Also, is there anything else I need to do with the engine after having it inhale water? Air cleaner elements are on order, and a snorkel will be too. Are those air cleaner drums pretty well sealed? I'll do something about the duck bill too when I get the snorkel.

Got lucky there Badco! a little more water and that would have been expensive.

The air cleaner drums are not water tight, apparently someone on the forums here (can't find the post now) makes some sort of kit that makes the lid seal on the drum.

I think in this scenario a mechanic will pull the glow plugs and crank the engine to get the water out of the cylinders.

Might be worth changing the engine oil. good thing 15w40 is cheap and you can do it yourself pretty easily (if I can do it, anyone can!)

I've always wondered about snorkels that look like this.
How do they not force water down the intake when driving into rain?

<edit> Also, as someone who just spend 2 hours underneath my Perentie with a pressure hose, do give your truck a good clean out before the mud turns to stone.
Whoever had this car before me drowned it, and never cleaned it, and the mud is resisting all attempts at cleaning it out.

    Yeah very lucky I reckon.

That kit sounds like the go, anyone know who does them?

Yeah that's what my mechanic mate did, he took the glow plugs and cranked it tog et the water out and also bled the fuel.

I've been meaning to do a good service on Hank, I guess now is a good time haha.

As for those snorkel heads, maybe this picture will help:

That pic makes things clearer. Always wondered how they didn't just ram water into the intake.

Glad you mentioned fuel. You should probably drain your tank.
The breather hose is huge (like 1" diameter) and quite low. depending on how deep you got, you may have some water in there.

Definitely check the fuel sedimenter behind the main tank.

If you got water in the air box, then the breather hoses likely got dunked as well.

You may as well bite the bullet and do a full fluid change.

Luckily that's fairly easy and cheap.

You need 20L of 15w40 (Castrol RX super or the like)
and 4L 80w/90 diff oil. - 5l if you do the steering box as well.

That will do your engine/gearbox/transfer case and PTO if you have one as well as the front and rear diffs.

might be worth taking off the breather hoses and seeing you can blow air through them.

Check your brake and clutch fluid too, water may get in there if they aren't sealing 100%
