Got to agree with 303gunner. If you go over 80kmph in a 6x6, make sure you have good hearing protection. If you want a higher comfortable top speed, change the crown wheel and pinion in your diffs. If you just want heaps of power at high speeds, have a chat to Sitec.

Hey, Simon, there's an idea. I'll get a spare Perentie. Can you get a spare motor?

100Km/h is pushing the upper limits of comfort in a 6x6. The noise will be quite uncomfortable and hearing protection is recommended. 80-90ks would be preferable.

Increasing engine performance is nice and you can always do with more, but an engine turning at 3200rpm at 95km/h is still turning at 3200rpm if it's putting out 400Nm. The power/torque increase will make driving more pleasant and you will get to your top speed quicker, but you won't change your top speed without addressing gearing.

Another member on this site has fitted 4.11 diff gears and found that to be suitable, and I have gone for 255/85-16 tyres. While both of these are cheaper solutions than the turbo upgrade you have mentioned, they still cost a couple of thousand dollars (app $3000) for a minor increase in cruising speed.
    Hi 303 gunner,

I realise that without changing gears it won't turn any faster, but I'm hoping with the peek torque being bought down lower, I won't need to ride the clutch to take off. as for the noise, I'm hoping to put some sound deadening into it. And as for the ride, I'm researching kinetic suspension. It was developed by a chap in dunsborough, southwest WA. They have used the concept in the land cruiser Sahara and prado kakadu

As for the gearing figures if the transfer case I'm going to double check with the transmission people today and get some clarification so thanks for your advise.

As for doing 105kms/hr, mine will do that, but as you say, it will be screaming it's head off and I don't want to murder my baby !!' and I've checked the speedo against the god and I think 110 on the speedo is 100km it real time.

So really prob keep playing with it till I get it right
well your post said max. speed 80km/hr

we drove ours foot to the floor everywhere (i.e. Brisbane to S.A return and Brisbane to Darwin return and than every other trip in between) screaming its head off......nearly always with hearing pugs in or head phone on.

we would drop off the end of the convoys to check things out, do detours, stop at servos and shops so that we could belt along at hi-way speed chasing down the convoy

Yeah, I was very carefull pulling up, just geared down and brakes lightly as one would in an 8 ton truck. I think I would like to increase braking tho. I see mention of a booster system driven off the power steering system.

    Just catching the perentie bug.

I like the USB and 12V outlets... Could I ask if there's any reason why you removed tie down points? I would of thought these come in very handy if you ever need to put vehicle on a trailer in case of break downs, transport ect and offer a little bit of extra protection if someone's runs up your rear end...
