Thread: What did you do on your Perentie Today.

I didn't do anything on her today, but I just received a phone call regarding the oil leak from the front of the box that the army tried to fix 3 times....$5,600 and a 4 week wait to referb the box !!! Waiting on written quote and photos now. It's hard being $1000 Kms away from her when she's in hospital !! Hoping to get to Perth to see her in a week or so. I'll share some info and pics when I receive it. Regarding the gear ratio in the transfer case earlier disgust in this thread, it is .966 as Dave mentioned.

You could by another GS for that and use it for parts!

Rathgar: apologies, took some time to dig out "better solution" tow hitch I was thinking of. A bit exy but here's what I was looking at:

Yeah I know, that thought had crossed my mind, but then there's no guarantee it would be in any better condition.

I've also toyed with the idea of putting a 5 or 6 speed in and then putting a splitter box from "multi-drive" in but I think I'll leave her standard for the moment

TK, you could do a lot worse than contact Bearman (Brian)here.
He is a LT95A champ and would spit chips at the quote you have been given!

The chap (cal) at the trans shop said that the box had been apart a heap of times in the past and he believed the root cause was a bent washer on one of the shafts. Not sure if he meant shim, thrust washer or retaining washer. But basically the gears were under constant load and there now all chopped out. The syncos were in constant mesh which made it feel like a crash box.

Now I haven't seen it myself but I do have some pics. What do you make of it? I think bearman is over here in the west ??
