Well yesterday I spent a full day playing with my 6x6. When I first got her there was oil leaking from the drive flanges on the wheel hubs. Some bolts were loose, some broken, some were 10mm, some were 3/8 and almost All were different lengths. So yesterday I removed all drive flanges, replaced gaskets, tapped holes to 10mm. Installed new high grade 10.9, M10 bolts with a little thread locker.

While do that I inspected the rear axles.
    1 was from maxi-drive ImageUploadedByAULRO1412804040.059125.jpg

But the rest were standard so I'm assuming it's had a broken axle along the way. I also found an oil seal land on the drive shaft diff side ImageUploadedByAULRO1412804157.233651.jpg

I've been told that because of the longer axle housings there is a seal installed on the axle and axle housing to keep oil in the diff when Perentie is operating at extreme angles.

I Also replaced the speedo cable while the trans is out as it was jumpy at low speeds. When removing it I found the outer sheath on the cable broken just behind the speedo.

While rummaging around I found a mysterious tank under the R/H side fender between the head light and antenna mount. At first I thought it went to the pOwer steering pump, but on closer
Inspection I found it went to the vacuum lines, making it a vacuum tank.

It was hard to take a good picture !!
HOPEFULLY after 2 months of my 6x6 being in the trans shop they put the trans back in it today. !!

    Just catching the perentie bug.

I've never heard of a vacuum tank on a perentie. Maybe you should check if it has a MD locker instead of a Detroit locker.

It doesn't have any lockers to my knowledge, and definitely no maxi drive. I was informed by MR Automotive that the 6x6 can't be fitted with maxi-drive lockers due to the oil seal mod and the re-in forcing internal of the diff and axle housing. It would foul on the actuator.

However, on the 6x6 the centre diff lock and rear drive lock have vacuum actuators, so I'm guessing that's why they have the track? Maybe not all of them home tanks? I'm not sure. Barefoot Dave may know?

Ta. I thought one rear diff on all 6x6s had a detroit as standard.

Ooooh nice. Feel free to take step by step photos and start a new thread.

I'm planning on doing the upgrade too and I'd prefer to let someone else learn the hard way.

Mind if I ask the price?

I have every intention of doing so although I would definately recommend reading through isuzutoo-eh's turbo build thread, that will essentially be my guide at this stage 😄
For turbo manifold and pipe it set me back $650 with a bit of postage as well, from a fellow aulro member
    Garrett 2256 VNT and it's a 3 1/4 pipe!

That'd be isuzurover's turbo build thread, both of my Isuzus are naturally asthmatic still
