Fitted a CB radio and an aerial on the FFR. Still haven't found a military mount for it so thought temporary get something for the bull bar. Have 3 standard CB aerials lying around. So off to Jaycar .. their bull bar mounts are too narrow for the girl .. okay, off to opposite lock in Narallen .. all shut at 11:10am Web says .. Saturday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm A wasted trip. However met a guy interested in Perentie's who suggests just get a piece of steel and bolt that over one of the 4 bases, and mount a standard CB mount in the middle. Had looked at using timber the same way but dismissed it as too temporary. Now steel sounded good.

Tried a few engineering shops for a square of light steel and all shut .. 12 now so forget it .. had a neighbour behind me who used to do cutting steel and has a garage full of the stuff .. rock around his place .. all out. 2 hrs blown .. go home .. tell my youngest (electrician) .. he says, see what I can do

Has some aluminium cable tray panelling in his van, an angle grinder, a drill and some bolts, some green paint and hey presto he whips up a base and fits the CB mount. He then tapped into the light cable in the back and mounted the CB vertical below the gun clips (rack) between the seats

Works fine .. longer term really would like a good looking army mount and aerial though

Nice mate, that's exactly what I want to build. I like functionality of being able to use the middle seats.

Decided it was a nice afternoon for a drive out the bush and the Perentie needed a run, so gave her an outing to the Sunset Country and a friends property. They are so at home ticking around on bush tracks and through rough paddocks.

    Cheers, Mick.

changed the original bent coathanger bullbar for the more substantial rfsv one - simple refit on existing holes - now have a better hopper fender, a hi-lift jack carrier and safe jacking points.
