On the tub the wheel arch is wrong for 110" as opposed to 109" and needs modification which can be a simple as cutting away but it'll look a bit agricultural. The 109" tub will also need flares.

It's all a whole lot simpler to use the 110" pretendie tub that it comes with (or buy one) than try to modify a 109" to fit.

I figure a lot easier to get hold of a 109 tub than a 110 tub?

In my case (I have a 110 trayback), if I can make it happen, I would be modifying rear over hang (shorter) and possibly longer doors.

If I cut the arch to suit, will a flare cover that "agricultural" look?

So you have a perentie or not??

If you cut a 109 tub you will not have the folded in edge to boltthe eyebrows onto.

I'd suggest you have a close inspection of one then have a good think about how it will work

    good luck

No, a 110 trayback, but I figure there some very close similarities in this thread regarding the use of a 109 tub.

If there is more material around the 109 arch that has to be cut, there is no reason a new folded edge can not be made. At worst aluminium angle could be used.

Obviously, this discussion deviation (convert trayback to tub) would have been better under its own heading to avoid misunderstandings.

    HI UNinfromed,

Keep in mind that many tub-backed LRs have been converted to tray-backs because lots of users would prefer a tray to a tub.

You will be up for a lot of two person work including at least undoing, and probably removing and replacing, the roof, (to remove the rear cab wall), if you want to convert to a tub. The tub is even better handled with 3 people.

And then there is the problem of aligning the tub and doors....

IMHO a 109 tub is never going to look right on a 110 unless you do some skilled panel work around the wheel arches (just cutting through the corners of the 109 tubs's "toolbox" lockers will be a headache that anyone can do without).

That is why I previously suggested getting a 110 tub from somewhere (even one of these perentie wrecks that they're selling).

Also a lot (maybe all) of 109 tubs and ex mil 110 tubs will have the fuel filler behind the drivers' door.

Where is your fuel filler now (?) and have you thought about how you will fit a replacement in the tub and what you will do about the 109 fuel filler assembly?

All in all - it would substantially simpler to sell your tray back and buy a perentie & fit a ute cab if you must (by removing the ROPS fittings)

You can even extend it ! Cab Extension Kit | UK Land Rover Experts

There's plenty of perentie style 110s for everybody you know, and you even end up with the fabled 4BD1 engine! (which seems to be highly regarded in this section of the forum )

Hope this helps you make a decision

If I had the money to just buy a truck already built how I want it, why would I be asking....

And If I sell my tray back I loose all my mods like laminated and full MD front end, full MD rear sals, 49% low range t/case with hyd pto, hyd winch, custom tube bar and sliders I made etc etc etc.. yes I could keep them, but then id be selling parts of a vehicle and what would I drive in the mean time???

Plenty of 110 tubs you say, funny I look on ebay and gumtree all the time and dont see to many come up. Yes wreckers like BOR, TRS have them, but it would be cheaper to buy a whole vehicle than what they want

Oh and maybe I already have a line on a good 109 tub

Hard work I can handle, spare cash to pay someone else I dont

    hi there,

I fitted a single cab off a defender 300 TDI and didn't have too much trouble. Sourcing it though could be a problem and you may get a shock at the price. I got quoted $1,800 for a station wagon turret and sides without back door. Luckily I found one on the back road to nimbin in NSW. They are around you just gotta know where to look. Good luck...
