    Perentie Re-galvanised

Friend of mine picked up a Perentie FFR at the last Brisbane auction. The service history that came with it shows that at 25km it was pulled down, chassis re-galvanized and rebuilt.

To my mind they would only do this if there had been an issue with the galvanising during production. If so, it is hard to imagine it only happened to one.

Does anyone know for sure why this was done?

Has this shown up in the history for others that have been purchased?

    Hi Howard

It could also be if there was a repair to the chassis or the gal surface had been scraped and damaged during service.

If you ever went to Bandiana when the Tennix or BAE re-build line was in operation you would have seen there were dozens of replacement chassis in stacks.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Dunno, but I helped load a Perentie chassis onto a trailer last week after it had been freshly galvanised. Maybe they weren't all galvanised to start with.

I remember the chassis when the vehicle was being stripped a few weeks back but can't recall if it was galvanised.

Thanks for the comments. The thing that puzzles him and me is that it was done at 25km. Not 25 000 but 25!

Hmmm - expensive error. Was this a common problem or just a particular batch? I guess the good thing for my mate is he knows it was done properly and he has a hand built vehicle

Every Land Rover and Defender is effectively hand built...
