Fuel filter should be Isuzu # 8944537381.
The picture you've shown is the fuel sedimenter. Undo the plastic winged bolt at the bottom to drain off any water it has trapped. My guess is that there is probably some crud in there so best to take the bowl off and clean it out. To do this need to undo the bolt in the centre on top of the housing and the bowl should drop off.

Ryco part number for the filter is Z169A, usually in stock at places like SuperCheap or Repco.

They are reasonably priced and will courier them to you. I buy 3 or 4 of each which lasts a couple of years with Km I do.

I would definitely clean out the sedimenter. It is like a large particle or sludge primary filter. I clean mine about every 12-18 mths. My fuel tank is a bit rusty. There not a lot in there if regularly cleaned. Metal/rust appears to react and pit the alloy body inside. Also there are 3 seals, under the bolt head holding it together, a large ring under the top of the unit and in between the middle and bottom section. It's likely all will be reusable. The sedimenter is a worthwhile bit of kit. Effective but simple.

Wait until your fuel tank is 1/4 full before cleaning. If too full the fuel level will be higher than the sedimenter.

All good news to hear, is there any special process of putting it back in? Bleeding or just put it straight back on?

You will need to bleed the fuel system after reassembly. Put some vaso on the seals so joins do seal. It can be a source of air leaks into the fuel system.

I recently replaced my filter using the ryco unit and noticed it fits but is a considerably smaller size. Does that matter/have any impact?

Seems to be similiar story with the ryco oil filter. It is shorter in height.
