Try this and you should be pretty right

    1. front windscreen
    2. loop over first hoop then tension to the front windscreen
    3. pull down straps at rear and tension down to loops either side of tail gate
    4. door tops - hook rope under hooks and tie rope off - both doors - push down rubber wind stopper
    5. pull flap around back of door hoop and tie off both straps in the buckles - both doors
    6. sides just behind doors, put end of rope of hook loop rope under hooks along side and tie off ends at back of vehicle
    7. pull down and tension/tie off ropes at back - the rope that goes right over to the other side ( put this rope through flap at the end of both sides and twist this rope around hoop then pull down it will tuck it all in nicely) then tie off, do same on other side

    this should be about it

    takes about 20 minutes..........

    cheers

Is it possible to roll back the canopy from the windscreen to the first hoop, like a sunroof ... and drive?

Or does this mess up tension for the whole canopy?

You would have to loosen the whole canopy to enable the front to come out from under the clamp across the windscreen.

Probably stating the obvious, but don't forget to take off the roof rack!

    Well listed Scott. Two additions.

Before you start on the canvas:
Ensure all hoops and sticks are in place, tight and secure.Give the frame a good shake and twist first.
Many Front and rear hoops that I have checked are not bolted in well, some were not even seated down properly.

    IRT the cam rack.
Original fitment used rivnuts and many vehicles still retain them. Check if yours has these or has been replaced with through-bolts.
If original, then take great care removing the bolts, use a little WD40 or such to loosen them.

Nope, theres straps that hold it in place.

    no you dont.

If you roll back the canopy above your head ther is no way of securing it when driving, even if tied down some how it will flap and be very hard on the canvas.

Never been able to get the canopy out of the front track without loosening the longitudinal straps and quite often the cam rack

Thanks for your very clear explanation. My only problem is:-

You mentioned a rubber windstopper over the doors. I have recently taken off my canopy, waterproofed and replaced it. I didn't see a windstopper. Is it similar to a door seal and does it fit in the channel above the window along with the cord (with the wire threader) that ties down the canopy edge?

    cheers
