						SubscriberGents,
Could you let me know if an ex army Perentie will (or should) have the ADR compliance plate the same as a civilian 110 and where they are located on the vehicle.
Could you also let me know where I would find the chassis number on a Perentie.
Thanks in advance.
Phil

						SubscriberThanks very much Dave.
There are some being sold with the compliance plate missing - usually noted as such in the auction listing.
Chassis No is on the outside vertical face of the RHF chassis rail as Dave advises.
Are they being registered without a compliance plate?

good question rar110 -
I look forward to reading posts on the subject.
Vehicles manufactured earlier than these didn't have compliance (or VIN) plates.
The compliance (or VIN) plate is the only place where the date of manufacture is shown and this info is required on the application to register a vehicle in all states.
The key spot for the VIN is where it is stamped on the chassis so the plate is not required for that. The graysonline receipt would be sufficient to prove ownership and hopefully would show date of manufacture in the circumstances.
There may be alternative ways of establishing date of manufacture that can be acceptable to the various state registration authorities.

I think the vehicles at auction that don't have a compliance plate. Say that they have a letter/statement on compliance from the manufacturer. Whether that satisfies the authorities I don't know.
The plate needs to state that the vehicle meets the standards, etc.

Aha, I think I am maybe one of the first to be a victim of the "VIN/Compliance" plate not being standard.
I purchased an FFR at the last Adelaide auctions a couple months back.
I had the vehicle sent to Regency for the ID inspection so can get registered in SA.
Short story - vehicle impounded on the spot and told will be collected by the police as part of a Forensic investigation - WHAT THA
tried for next 2 weeks to get an answer on what the hell was the problem. Nobody would say.
Finally someone at Elizabeth Police station indicated that it's something to do with the VIN number or compliance plate - possible tampering. This was what the numpties at Regency impounded the vehicle for.
So Police are required to investigate.
3 weeks later still no update from police!!!!!!!
I believe mine is one of the first to have this happen.
Now it's just a waiting fame.
Note: Both Grays and AFM have offered to assist where they can when/if they get a request from Police.
What a debacle.
SA seems to be the state where people have had the most problems with rego inspections - is there a particular reason for this ?
I had always been led to believe that SA had fairly generous rego requirements.
