I've been waiting for the right location...

The RFSV (51 695) and Ed the trailer along the Anne Beadell Highway. We didn't see a soul for six days, the tracks were un marked (aside camel and lizards) and the only issue was the damn relays falling out from the corrugations.

    Ive just bought the bushpig.

Its an FFR ARN 49-209. Got a busted centre diff I was told. Found it in the back in bits. Apart from some wear it seems to be ok. It would be noisy I would think.

Question...where can I get a copy of the lt95 perentie repair scale and a parts listing. From what ive researched so far the lt95 in the perenties is different to the other lt95s fitted to early rangies and 101fc v8 and 109 st1 v8s. Mine has no thrust washers fitted and there isnt any room to fit them. The little pinion gears have a shoulder in the rear that sits in a sort of internal shell in the centre diff housing. Is this correct? The parts ive seen available seem to list the pinion gears with thrust washers. These wont fit into the inner shell housings. Any info or links to where I can get the proper parts would be great. TIA.

    Cheers Rod

What's busted in the centre diff? The gears are the usual culprit and caused by not locking the centre diff in soft stuff. When a spinning wheel gets grip and the transfer of shock load is too much that is what happens. Post up a few pics of the damage and let me have a look. I might be able to help you out with some bits.

Ok thanks Bearman. Ive taken pics this morning of the parts and you can see the wear points on the "shell halves". The side gears and pinions and x shafts look good. It seems that the wear is just in these two halves. Are these avsilable new or really good second hand? Any help would really be apreciated. Thanks.

    Cheers Rod

This is the small housing i got a closeup of the wear

This is the other side of the shell ive got a closeup of the wear. These two wear spots are the only thing i can see wrong with the centre diff. All the other parts seem in great condition.

I dont know anything about what the actual problem was with the diff as it was pulled apart when i got it. The inside of the transfer case is clean and no damage either. The only other thing of note is the pto is missing for the winch and it would appear the shaft is broken or been cut off just rear of the engune. There are two u joints and a shaft then the shaft has the break just after the second joint next to the engine. No pics just yet. Im using a friends wifi at his house...lol

    Cheers Rod

Interesting Rod, That is not the standard centre diff out of a perentie or county box. It is a LSD centre diff from a very early range rover. That is what the round discs are. From what I have heard over the years they were not a success and used to give a shuddering when differentiating. I have a recoed one of them here but have never been game to put it in and try it. I would be replacing it with the proper one and depending how much offroad work you do upgrading the cross shafts to a 1 piece ashcroft or jacmac shaft. Much stronger. A good centre diff is going to cost about $600 and add an extra 200 if you want the upgraded cross shaft assembly. I can help you out either way - The LSD one owes me $650....Brian

Thanks for that information Brian. I had suspected it may be lsd but not knowing what they looked like i wasnt sure. Well that chucks a spanner in the works now. I might get the lsd of you Brian so ive got spare bits. Just leave it with me for a few days so i can see what i can get locally. Cheers and thanks for the help. Do you have a diagram of how the whole thing goes together? As ive said its in a million bits in a cardboard box atm and i have no idea how it goes together.
Cheers and thanks again for the help.

    Rod
