Just Picked up an Ex Army 110

    HI All,

First time poster long time reader of all the great posts you all have.

I've noticed in a lot of the threads that a few of you like to be all over the auctions so I thought I would share an experience with mine

SO.. I picked up a 110 cargo soft top from Melb auctions.
just over 6000km's since its last rebuild in 91.
    Currently going through RWC.
    Mechanically sound, drives great!
Problems I've come across so far:
    Demister not working
indicator relay decided to die yesterday (simple fix)
RH door didn't close properly so just bent the frame straight again and works well.

Taking it to the mechanic tomorrow to get RWC, ill keep you updated

    Andrew

    interesting...
you get it fixed easily enough? once I pulled out the fuse that was blown and replaced it, blew again straight away. Obviously shorting somewhere on the circuit. Investigation continued until I ran out of daylight!

Ill post some pictures soon, been so busy getting it ready for an RWC I haven't had time yet

Yep. Sounds like the same problem I had. I replaced the fan and motor.
The heater core was full of mud and leaked so I replace that as well.

    Lot 18?
Land Rover 110 4X4 Cargo Soft Top 08/1987 Auction (0018-3007373) | GraysOnline Australia

Good seats, tyres & canvas, did the service book detail the rebuild?
If not, it might be just a replacement speedo, sorry to rain on your parade if that is the case

Well done on your purchase! Hope it lasts you into eternity

If yours is lot 18 that DeeJay posted the link for, you have the 23rd vehicle in the Army's 110 4x4 fleet, ARN 48-023

DeeJay's prediction rings a true, I don't think they were doing the full Tenix style ground-up rebuilds in 1991, but the log book should reveal more. Yours has a few improvements that point to an active life (bull bar+tyres) and enough wear to look used.
There have been a few sold with ridiculously low mileage that is logbook supported though, so fingers crossed for you yours is one of those few!

Yeah, Mate. Lot 18 is right. the log book did highlight the rebuild, I actually got it wrong. the rebuild was in 2007 by Tenix Darwin, with the technical documents that state everything that was replaced. A good 4-5 pages worth. There was a replacement speedo put it before the rebuild also which indicated 27,000 plus the 180000 before that so a good 207000kms before its rebuild in 07.
