Any updates?
Take the boxes Dave refers to off the sides and take it through the inspection again.
Attached is photo of a scout vehicle on show in WA on weekend .....its licensed guns and all
As others have said I'd remove the boxes on outside of vehicle, and hope that common sense prevails.
Hope you get it sorted and are on the road soon.
cheers
Baggy

Having worked in aftermarket and compliance/vehicle modifications (albeit WA) it would appear that the engineer in question is not applying correct interpretation to the relevant design riles applicable to the vehicle and its year.
That said if the vehicle is unmodified from manufacture then an engineers certificate should not be required - did you speak to your DOT? a road worthy inspection should be all that is needed - in WA these are done at the 'pits' owned and operated by the Transport Dept, maybe third party in SA

I finally got around to registering my GS Perentie today in SA.
Purchased in April, registered today! Yeah, I know - a long time between drinks, but I wanted to do some work on it, plus the rear drive shaft was basically stuffed and had to be rebuilt.
Yesterday I got the permit to drive it to Regency Park which cost about $40.
This morning I headed off for the first ever drive in the truck! Loved the drive - steering is a bit loose, but I'll never worry about answering the mobile, as I can't hear it!!!!!
I did NOT take it for a roadworthy, I took it for an ID check at 7 Naweena Rd.
Filled in the forms and was called 10 mins later to present it for them.
Schmoozed the inspector (although I didn't really need to as he was a genuinely nice guy) and asked if I could show him where the ID numbers were to save him time. I'd cleaned them all up for him so it took no time at all. Found out he had done 28 years in the RAAF, so with my Perentie being Ex-RAAF, we had good mutual ground.
He took 10 mins to do his thing, then disappeared into an office to do his computer checks and came out 5 mins later with the completed paperwork.
Absolutely no issues whatsoever.
Then it was up the road to fork out $1400 for rego, third party etc, and I had my plates.
It was all too easy, and after some of the stories I have read, I did breath a big sigh when it was all finished.
My suggestion to ANYONE in SA is do NOT go for a roadworthy, just do the inspection. I had taken off the tool holders on the bonnet because I put a checkplate panel on it, but it all went without mention.
By the way, full insurance through Shannons for $12K cover is $400.
Hope this helps others, and I have posted this on the REMLR forums also.
I took my FFR for inspection at Regency.
The day before I took it, I met the head inspector - can't remember his name, and went through everything with him. He said it MUST have a key fitted and the convoy lights had to be removed.
Turned up the next day with a key kit and convoy lights still fitted (it was straight from the auction) and had a hassle with the inspector assigned to me. Lots of sucking of breath and shaking of head.
Asked to see the head guy please (the one I saw the day before) and he smoothed it all out for me. As I was leaving, another FFR turned up!
This was in December last year, so they must have seen 50 go through since then.
Try and find her boss. You will have to take the stuff on the side off, and the convoy lights off.
Sorry to hear it's turned to poop, but keep perservering!
