The barrel has a retaining spring that locks it in place.
Have a look on the underside of the tube that the barrel slids into.
You will see a hole about the same size as a matchstick.
To release the spring insert a tool (a rivet worked for me) into the hole and push it in gently.
Insert the key and you should be able to remove the barrel while similtaniously pushing on the tool.
