    Perentie gearbox

My gearbox, when what appears to be warmed up ,won't engage second gear, going up or down, double clutching or anything, it is like the gate isn't there.
Any thoughts, clutch seems fine, no noises, just a 3 speed right now

    Cheers

Could be a few things Bruce, mainshaft endfloat, rear snap ring problem, synchro ring, worn thrust bearings, selector shafts or pads etc. Sounds like it's time for a rebuild. Does it shift normally when cold?

Yeah I can get it in 2nd, but not for long, 1st feels a bit tight, 3rd and 4th not a problem.
I'd love to drop an auto into it, but I hear that's a bit tricky matching the transfer case up to it.
I also hear a 5 speed Td5 is a good choice to consider as well.

    Cheers

Bruce i would leave it lt95. The auto trans conversion done properly is a very expensive affair. And the 5 spd from a td5 is a toy transmission. If you rebuild the lt95 correctly and turbo the perentie it will be the best use of your $$$. And originality (bar the turbo of course) will be retained.
