    Note to self..... Don't ever clean a fuel tank

    Thought I'd be smart and clean my left hand fuel tank on my new perentie 6x6. Turns out if you do this you run the risk of dislodging the critical piece of rust that is there to plug the holes. Now it's ****ing out fuel between the rock guard and the tank.

    Looks like I'm in the market for a new tank.

    PVC solvent seal the inside of the tank. It needs to be removed from the vehicle to do this. Same as Redcote etc by a fraction of the cost.

    POR15 works wonders I'm told.

    Keep your eyes on the auctions. There were a few fuel tanks in the last one. They probably had just as many holes.

    I used f/g boat gel coat in the S1 tank 20 years ago. Nice and thin, slosh it around and let it set.
    Still no leaks.

    Alternatively, try and find an old-timer radiator repair person who can solder. I have had fuel tanks repaired this way and they lasted for years.
