    My FFR fuel problem

Bought a FFR from Greys about 4 years ago, I love it, had to fit power steering though as I am now retired and not as strong as i used to be.
KLR did a great job on that so some time later I had them fit a turbo. I also fitted some heavy duty sidesteps to help me get in and out. This truck will go anywhere. It has only done 80,000 km and is now at home in Hervey Bay Queensland.
I fitted some Steel rims from a Disco so as to make it easier to reduce tyre pressure for sand. It runs around Fraser island in 2high with no problem, only have to use low range when helping others who have other types of 4WD vehicles.
One problem that I have had was about 5 weeks ago I pulled up in the driveway and diesel was dripping from the bottom of the fuel tank. I was quoted $600-00 for a second hand tank and told it may be in the same condition as mine. I opted to get a local company to make an aluminium tank for $400-00 and fitted the steel guard back around it.
Then the trouble started, I would drive for about 5 minutes before the truck slowly lost power, fuel filter was changed when new tank installed, and the water seperator was not connected when i purchased the vehicle, after a few days of this I read a post on this site about a inline filter underneath the fuel pump. Not easy to get at, a short reach spanner was needed. sure enough it was a wonder any fuel at all was getting through. after a good clean and a period of re-hydration for myself a test run was in order.
The truck is now running as well as ever.

    My FFR fuel problem

    Welcome.

There’s a few possibilities. But it sounds like you have an air leak on the suction side.

Firstly, check the fuel connection (for suction not return) at the top of the tank is connected tightly or if connection is cross threaded. Another is whether the copper suction line has been kinked and split. All can result the lift pump sucking air.

I would fit a cheap in line filter before the lift pump. It will give you visual on your fuel system and capture any junk before the strainer under the pump.

Next I would check the water separator.
