Problem with DVD player
G'day g'day
Our DVD player (a few years old) has decided to only play when it feels like it.
Put in a movie and it spins furiously for a while then says (No disk). Put in a different one and it works perfectly.
I tried one of those laser cleaning disks with only limited success.
So ... is it on the way out, or is there an easy fix??
I've thought about taking it somewhere for a service, but haven't done so as yet.

Buy a new one
Mate, for the prices paid nowadays, toss it and get a new one or a blue ray their prices are coming down pretty quick as well.
Anyway that's what I would do.
Cheers
Rob

Rosco, You'll probably find it's the laser worn out/faulty, which is why it's having difficulty reading some discs. Depends on your player really whether it's fixable or not, try you local hi fi repair shop.
I have a rather expensive cd/dvd player and believe it or not it refused to play certain dvd's. I contacted manufacturer in Scotland (under warranty) and was told to send it to Sydney for repairs. This I reluctantly did and when it came back it played two dvd's and stopped again
After a few phone calls, the australian representative flew up from Sydney, hired a car, drove to my home and installed a new laser and upgraded machine to current spec, he then spent four hours tuning my equipment to my listening area. What a nice man and boy does it sound good now. Thanks Kevin
