I tried that. That cable is an accessory for the upgraded stereo option that I tried to get in accordance with LR's website. No joy. Unavailable as an option here in Aus apparently. So...we can get a whole car sent over here but not a stereo... Go figure. I don't see how I can connect that cable to the stock unit, unless anyone knows of something hidden away out of sight.

An expensive connector. There must be a cheaper way.

My MY10 does not have a connector, and I didnt think the MY11 has one either, unless you have a UK Defender of course.

Funny one this, as this adaptor is on the LRA web site, I am sure when i asked the same question when i bought new they said it was not available here, however, i do have a price in my head for one fitted by the dealer.

As for fitting a OZ spec LR Defender radio, the wording clearly states its for a single cd/radio, i cant see these being different to the uk ones, best bet would be to take out the unit and check for a aux/input port.

Or and this would be cheaper, and a better unit, a pioneer, sony, clarion, kenwood etc etc head unit with either 3.5 jack out, or with a ipod cable.

you will just need the iso adaptor cable....

I wouldn't worry about the Warranty period...the standard unit has appalling reception and can't be plugged into.

I tossed mine and installed a Pioneer unit for $200 and now, on a country run, I can listen to the radio or my ipod where as previously it was only the sound of the wind, the tyres and the engine.

BTW I did try one of those fm transmitting devices for the Ipod but the electronics in the car interferred with the signal.

Does this adaptor enables the control of the iPod from the steering wheel buttons or is it just an audio input?
