Has anybody got any experience with Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems on your Landy?
Has anybody got any experience with Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems on your Land Rover?
I'm due to change tyres soon and thought they seemed like a good idea.

Not myself but have seen them on a Defender and a Disco. Both worked well.
Many different brands available.

seem a good idea been looking myself, the one in the link says that it measures between 20lb-60lb.is 20lb low enough seeing that reduced tyre pressures below 20lb are common when in sand etc.

I had the tyre dog system. Someone pulled the valve cap monitors off my D2 while I was in a major shopping centre.
They could save you a tyre, but I did not replace them.

i bought one which attached to the wheel rim when a new tyre is fitted.
Different to the one you have given a link for it worked a treat until next time I got new tyres and the tyre bloke broke it while getting the old tyre off the rim, even after telling him twice where it was
was good though and done the job, while it worked

i have worked with some projects that have used the "tyre dog" system, it is excellent, but like the previous post, the senders on your valve caps can be stolen very easily.
They do work extremely well, just take em off when you are not going to need them, they just screw on like valve caps. you have a remote thing with an lcd screen that tells you what it what.

A mate of mine has the guenuine land rover system (that he brought over from the UK) that fits inside the tyre behind the valve. Each wheel transmits to the display in the replacement rear view mirror which comes with the kit.
From what Ive seen of it, it works very well. It will also allow you to monitor your trailer tyres.

I have the Tyre Dog system on my D3 including 2 extra sensors for my camper. It works well & pretty accurate - to within 1-2 psi. Happily reads low pressures down to 6psi I think. I wouldn't travel without it now. My brother had 2 punctures on a trip we did together and his Tyre Dog system alerted him immediately to low pressure in the affected tyre- unfortunately both times he had sidewall punctures but saved shredding of tyre (and possible accident). You can get a version that mounts inside the rim but I agree the valve cap style is vulnerable. On a previous vehicle I detected a slow leak in one tyre & my tyre service agent found a cracked rim as the cause- that saved me a potential serious accident! That was 3 days before a Simpson crossing in 2007. Need I say more! Regards, David

I have a TyreDog TPMS on my D4 + sensors for my single axle caravan.
Agree with all that Blue C has said. I'd buy another one tomorrow if I broke this one.
Thieft of the valve stem sensors is my greatest concern.
