    In car video recorder

    Hi All,

Has anyone fitted a in car video recorder?

There are several on Ebay at what seems a reasonable price.

I am interested in getting one and trying but thought I would ask if anyone has one or tried these.

    Thanks,

    Chilly

One could mount it facing the rear so it records the worst tailgaters...forward the video to local Highway Patrol coppers who need to fulfil their ticket quota at the end of the month.

Sorry I can't be of practical use. Suffice it to say though, you get what you pay for. So if it seems "too cheap" then keep your expectations low so you're less likely to be disappointed.

I also guess it depends what you wish to use the footage for. 640x480 pixels is viewable on your average PC screen but if you want higher resolution you'll need to up the outlay I'm imagine.

    Yes, I have two.
It records GPS data as well.
Note: they are wide angle lenses.
What else do you want to know?

    Hi mick,

Pretty much the same as oldsalt.

    Was thinking of getting two.
One for the front and one for those following.

Are they any good for night driving. Many advertise this option.

    cheers,
    Chilly

    iTRONICS iPASS BLACK
    AutoBlackBox.com.au

    About $300.

    Does it's job.

When there is a lot of information (ie light changes from country tree lined roads) the image pixilates. I'm going to test if a faster memory card improves this.
As previously stated, it is wide angle lens, so passing cars disappear quickly.
Driving along, some roos jumped out in front of me. More than enough distance to avoid an incident. Didn't show on the video. Would have if I had hit them.

Haven't tried it at night. I'll give it a go on the weekend.

PM your email and I'll send you an example.

The HERO GoPro is a brilliant little camera that has tons of accessories, is water proof, smaller than your fist and records in full 1080.

They're about $179 a piece, but are incredibly flexible as to how you can use them and where you can put them.

    They don't have GPS
The $179 one is not the full 1080
Having said that, the motorsports one for $299 looks good. Shock proof and water proof in it's own protective housing.
I can see that one mounted on the bull bar of the Landy.
